This monthly bulletin reviews the respiratory disease and influenza surveillance data reported in Cambodia during June 2014. There has been an early start to the 2014 influenza season, with increased detection through multiple surveillance systems. A/H3N2 was the most detected influenza strain with 88% of the total detected influenza in June. A/H3N2 made up 71% of the total influenza detected in 2014 so date. Additionally, an A/H3N2 cluster was detected in Battambang prison, 287 cases were detected, 26 of the 27 samples collected tested positive for A/H3N2.

A community cluster of H5N1 was detected in Kratie province with 2 confirmed cases and 1 probable; the investigation concluded that the most likely exposure was common animal exposure, no evidence of human-to-human transmission was found. Other influenza activity remained low throughout the month.
